F1 | Ericsson puts the Alfa Romeo team aside: “I want to focus on IndyCar”

Interviewed by the Expressen newspaper, Marcus Ericsson spoke about his sporting plans for the 2020 season, underlining how the priority, at least for now, will be to concentrate resources and energy on the IndyCar experience with Chip Ganassi's team.

Despite his commitment as third Alfa Romeo Racing driver, in fact, the Swede does not intend to sacrifice his career in the USA for a role as third driver, especially if the latter, as it seems, does not allow him to return on a permanent basis within of the Circus.

“I have a long relationship with the Alfa Romeo team and I'm pretty sure I will have a part in the future too,” said Marcus Ericsson. “At the same time, however, I want to concentrate 100% on this season in IndyCar. My goal is not to be a reserve driver in Formula 1, but to race in Indy. I want to give myself priorities."

“In any case, I don't want to say too many things about what next year will be, given that there are several factors at play,” he continued. "We'll see what the Alfa Romeo team wants and what Chip Ganassi's team will ask of me for my season in the USA."
