F1 | Ecclestone responds to Hamilton: “I was the first to put a black driver in a Formula 1 car”

The controversy he is involved in shows no signs of abating Bernie Ecclestone. The former patron of the formula 1, after giving his opinion on the entire movement created by Liberty Media to raise awareness of the fight against racial discrimination, was accused by Lewis Hamilton. In response, Mister E did not hold back and wanted to counterattack in an interview granted to Daily Mail.

“I expected Lewis to say something – Ecclestone said. He's black, so he had to, I guess, but I think a lot of people understood what I meant. Lewis and I have never spoken since all this started. He is able to tell whether I am ignorant or not, we have received the same education, so I think we have something in common. He talks about it because it's a fact: you have to be a total idiot not to see the few African-Americans involved in Formula 1. I was the first to put a black driver in a Formula 1 car, I did it 30 years ago with Willy T. Ribbs (1986, ed). If there was a very talented African American today, I'm sure they would be happy to have him in Formula 1, as it was with Lewis. The problem is that many drivers, whether African-American, Chinese, white or any other color, need a sponsor to race!”.
