F1 | Ecclestone: “Liberty? They wanted to drive their car."

In an interview given to Mara Sangiorgio, Bernie Ecclestone explained the reasons that led him to resign as "super boss" of Formula One. After the sale to Liberty Media, in fact, several rumors circulated about the real reason that pushed Ecclestone to leave his place in command, without however ever finding any real confirmation on what happened with Chase Carey. Present in the Bahrain paddock, the English manager explained that the Liberty group simply wanted “drive your own car” and who therefore deemed it right to step aside to give full powers to the new management.

“There was nothing special with Chase and the Liberty group” commented Ecclestone. “They wanted the wheel of their car and so I thought it was right to step aside. Now they have full power and will decide what to do with the Circus. What if I missed the races? No not much. Among other things, I've been to Abu Dhabi and Australia, so I haven't been missing from the paddock for too long. I like Bahrain, as I like this track, and I hope to enjoy a good race weekend."
