F1 | Ecclestone: “Hamilton took this sport outside the box”

The 2017 World Championship was marked by the fierce duel, on and off the track, between Lewis Hamilton e Sebastian Vettel. A very tense confrontation which, barring sensational twists, will give the English driver the fourth world championship title in his career, the third with Mercedes. Bernie Ecclestone, always a great supporter of "Hammer", crowned the Briton as the true image man of current Formula 1: “Lewis managed to bring this discipline outside the box, also involving new spectators and I think this is a good thing” – declared the former owner of Formula 1. "I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly decided not to run anymore. He's an unpredictable guy and that's what makes him even more amazing for all of us.".

Ecclestone, however, did not see Vettel's 2017 version as an insurmountable obstacle for Hamilton: “I'm very good friends with Seb. But compared to Lewis, he is more predictable in what he does. This year for me it wasn't the real Vettel, he could have achieved more. Unfortunately, his season was unpredictable, but in a negative way.".
