F1 | Ecclestone buys Senna's McLaren MP4/8A
The former owner of the Circus paid 4.197.500 euros to purchase the single-seater with which the late Brazilian driver won the 1993 Monaco GP
Yesterday evening, in the splendid setting of Villa La Vigie in Monte Carlo, the British house Bohmans auctioned off the legendary McLaren MP4/8A chassis no.6 with which Ayrton Senna triumphed in the 1993 Monaco Grand Prix twenty-five years ago.
The winner of the single-seater, on board which the late three-time world champion achieved his sixth and last success in the Principality, was Bernie Ecclestone. To win this historic gem, the former owner of the Circus paid the sum of 4.197.500 euros.
In addition to the McLaren MP4/8A, another single-seater driven by Ayrton Senna was also auctioned: the Toleman-Hart TG184, with which the Brazilian achieved his first career podium, finishing second in the 1984 edition of the Grand Prix of Monaco, sold for 1.610.000 euros.
