F1 | Coronavirus, stop selling tickets for the Bahrain GP: Vietnam imposes quarantine on Italians

The Coronavirus continues to be talked about within the world of Formula 1. The Australian Grand Prix, scheduled for next weekend, is confirmed, and team personnel are already in Melbourne to set up paddocks and garages. A vastly different story regarding Bahrain, which has stopped the sale of tickets to attend the Sakhir weekend. The postponement (or cancellation) is very likely instead of Vietnam, which does not want Italian personnel in their country without a quarantine of at least 14 days once they land. Sainz, Raikkonen and Ricciardo were interviewed regarding these events.

“At the moment I have a plane to catch to Australia on Saturday, I can't wait – Sainz told Spanish media. I'm not doing anything strange, I'm not one to go crazy: there will certainly be measures in place for the first races and it's good that the fans have a little more attention, but at the moment we have to wait. I am in constant contact with the doctor and with people who tell us how to behave, that is, wash your hands well and come into contact with others in a less direct way, in short, the usual things."

“If you worry about things like that, I think it's best to stay home – Raikkonen told the newspaper Ilta sanomat. There are many things that influence the virus, such as the type of medical care you use, your health status or your age. I don't know how Formula 1 should react, it's not our decision, but theirs."

The situation around the world is certainly not improving, on the contrary, but the opening of the season in Melbourne, scheduled for next weekend, is not at risk. The authorities have implemented a passenger selection process, while personnel and equipment from the various teams are already arriving at Albert Park. As for Bahrain and Vietnam, the situation remains more complicated, with the organizers of the Grand Prix due to take place in Sakhir having suspended the sale of tickets for the race scheduled for March 22. The biggest problem concerns Italians, with Vietnam even preventing our fellow travelers from entering the country without a fourteen-day quarantine.

“It wouldn't be right to race without all ten teams with their respective drivers – Ricciardo said. The idea of holding non-championship races in these affected areas is even worse. At this level, either we are all there or none of us are there."
