F1 | The Vietnam Grand Prix confirmed starting from the 2020 season

With a press release issued this morning, Liberty Media confirmed Vietnam's entry into the calendar starting from the 2020 season. As previously announced over the last few weeks, Hanoi will join the world calendar with a city Grand Prix that aims to expand the interests of the Circus in the East, especially after the heavy farewell of Malaysia.

The agreement, signed on a multi-year basis, aims to develop the interest of the Vietnamese towards Formula 1, also broadening the interests of the teams in a country that is still "green" from this point of view.

It should be noted that the track will be 5.565 kilometers long and will wind through the stadium area, with an extremely technical sector that will be similar to the ones at Silverstone, Austin and Suzuka.

Here are the words of Chase Carey, Chairman and Chief Executive of Formula 1: “We are delighted to announce that Hanoi will host a Formula 1 race. Since we became involved in the sport in 2017, we have often talked about developing new events and cities to broaden the appeal of F1. The Vietnam Grand Prix is the realization of this idea. We are thrilled to be here in Hanoi, one of the most exciting cities in the world, and I can't wait for this race to become one of the highlights of the championship.”

“Our Motosport team, working in collaboration with the city of Hanoi and promoter Vingroup, has sought to put together a layout that will not only test the riders, but will allow fans to enjoy the spectacle of Formula 1. It's fantastic to be able see racing cars speeding through this city”, he added.

Here are the impressions of Nguyen Duc Chung, president of the city of Hanoi: “We are proud to host the Formula 1 Vietnam Grand Prix and showcase the city of Hanoi to the world with its special combination of ancient and modern beauty. It is a further demonstration of Vietnam's capability. This race offers numerous investment opportunities and the possibility of bringing an international sport like Formula 1 within our borders."
