F1 | Schumacher conditions: a neurosurgeon sheds light

Since the news broke that Michael Schumacher was admitted to a hospital in Paris to undergo a stem cell treatment, a media uproar has arisen, as has happened for six years. Not having had any updates from the family, we can only limit ourselves to providing the information that comes from the doctors. Regarding the fact that the seven-time world champion is "conscious", the head of neurosurgery at the Tampere University Hospital in Finland, Juhana Fronen, provided some clarification.

“The fact of being conscious does not tell us much about a person's abilities. It may be that he is able to move around and go about his daily routine, just as it is equally possible that he is bedridden and has to depend on the care of other people."

“Being conscious can also mean that a person can only open or close their eyes at the request of others. Nothing else can be said with no information available."

Dr. Fronen also downplayed Schumacher's stem cell treatments:

“So far, stem cell treatments are purely experimental, so without knowing the details, no conclusions can be drawn. The only thing that can be deduced from the move to Paris is that his family is making every effort to help his recovery."
