F1 | Claire Williams: “I thought about giving up”

After another disappointing season, team principal Claire Williams has admitted she has no plans to step down from her role. The daughter of the founder of the British team, Sir Frank Williams, interviewed by Yahoo Sport admitted that she thought about giving up:

“I wasn't ready to leave because I would only be accused of being the daughter who failed her father's iconic team and I would never be able to live with this burden for the rest of my life.”

Claire reiterated that her father continues to support her:

“He knows how tough this business is, much tougher nowadays, with social media and people attacking you left and right.

Williams then added that while the results were catastrophic, there was still a lot of work behind the scenes:

“We have left no stone unturned to address the operational issues but also the culture of the team, bringing those two concepts together in order to create the highest performing team that we can. It will take some time but I'm seeing the first shoots"
