F1 | Claire Williams: “We necessarily have to improve”

Il Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams he admitted difficulties of the team and what will be theobiettivo number one for this new season: the team needs to improve compared to last year, but in any case the new technical regulations will give the team the chance to make big steps forward in 2017.

Last year, in fact, Williams finished in fifth place behind Strength India, but in 2017 we will certainly have to do better: “We have done a lot of work over the last few months in order to do a little more restructuring and improve on what we did in 2014 (when the team finished in third place, ed.)”, he told BBC Radio 5 Live this week.

“We don't know where we are, but we got to improve and get back to fifth place in the championship. I think the future remains bright for our team and I think trying to set any kind of expectations with our performances is difficult because of the new rules. However, I believe that this year will be interesting from different points of view, not least because of these new regulations, and for us having driving experience will be the most important thing to interpret them best", continued Claire Williams.

Then a joke about the “Bottas affair” that brought him back Sponge in Williams after the announcement of the farewell: “Felipe was the best choice for us”, insisted Claire Williams. “We have Lance Stroll with us this year, he's a rookie, so we needed someone with experience and so Felipe was the right choice for us, the ideal candidate”he concluded.
