F1 | Chase Carey on the new calendar: “Three matches in a row for the World Cup”

The new calendar di Formula 1 2018 presents some surprises: on 21 races for next year three – France, Austria and Great Britain – will be held one after the other, the three consecutive weekends on June 24th, July 1st and 8th. The German and Hungarian Grands Prix will be held on 22 and 29 July. In short, 5 appointments in just six weeks. The reason for so much crowding? Obviously avoid a concomitance with the World Cup final of football in Russia which will take place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on 15 July.

“It would have been difficult for the promoters to compete with the World Cup final,” said Chase Carey, “It is important to note that all of the group's races are in Europe. I think the calendar is well thought out,” Carey added. “Every year there is always something unique and next is the World Cup final,” continued the F1 number 1. “We also worked with our partners and with this program we preserved the four-week break in August.”
