F1 | The Friday and Saturday times of the Imola Grand Prix are changing

All this to avoid a coincidence between the qualifications and the funeral of Prince Philip of England

F1 | The Friday and Saturday times of the Imola Grand Prix are changing

Formula 1 and the FIA have decided to change the Saturday program of the Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy Grand Prix, which will take place on the historic Imola circuit over the weekend to respect the silence when the funeral of the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh passed away last week. As a sign of respect for the funeral celebration, which will take place at 16pm Italian time (00pm in Great Britain), qualifying will be brought forward to avoid it happening at the same time, so instead of the scheduled time of 15pm, it will start at 14:00. This also changes the timetable of FP3, which must end two hours before the start of the official practice session, and therefore the morning free practice will also be brought forward by an hour starting at 11:00 instead of 12:00.

For this reason, Friday's free practice will also undergo changes: given the regulation, which provides for a distance of at least nineteen hours between the end of FP2 and the start of FP3, the first session will start at 11:00 and no longer at 11:30, while the afternoon one will start at 14:30 and no longer at 15pm. The start of the race has been confirmed, which will start regularly at 15:00 pm In addition to this, there will also be a minute's silence on Saturday before the start of qualifying.
