F1 | Button: “Verstappen can challenge Hamilton for the title”

Jenson Button believes that Max Verstappen is ready to fight for the world championship and compete for the world championship scepter with Lewis Hamilton. The former world champion, currently a consultant for Williams, expects a lot from the new Red Bull RB16B, which appeared in the pre-season tests in Bahrain as a complete and highly competitive car.

Furthermore, according to Jenson, a possible Hamilton-Verstappen duel on equal terms would benefit F1 itself, which needs a challenge between champions to award the title.

“I think the hypothesis of a challenge between Hamitlon and Verstappen for the world championship is fantastic, it's what the fans hope to see – the Englishman told Sky Sports – We shouldn't draw hasty conclusions after the tests, but my impression is that the Red Bull has excellent downforce and great handling. If they are strong in Bahrain they will be strong elsewhere too. Plus Max will give everything as always; in recent years he has matured and is in top form. I am convinced that he can challenge Lewis for the title and that is what F1 needs right now."
