F1 | Budapest, a fantastic Saturday for Kimi and Sebastian at the Hungaroring
Full front row for the Scuderia di Maranello
Another double in qualifying for Scuderia Ferrari: Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen conquer the front row of the grid for tomorrow's race. It is notable that in all three weekends in which a Scuderia Ferrari driver qualified in pole position (Russia, Monaco and Hungary), his teammate started the race behind him. This shows the quality and intensity of team work and this was definitely the case yesterday and today, when all the guys inside the garage and in Maranello did their best to improve the handling and performance of both SF70H.
Sebastian Vettel, beaming after taking his second pole this year, says: “Today was a beautiful day, the car and the whole session were fantastic; I'm really happy. We have been working on the car and yesterday we did several tests. Obviously, we discussed it a lot afterwards and I think this morning the car was better. We are working hard to make sure everything goes well. The guys worked very hard and love what they do. So, it's nice to get back in the car and do your job. We love racing and this weekend has gone well so far. We know we have a strong car no matter where we race, and that's the best thing about this year. Now we need to move forward and concentrate. Qualifying is over, so we need to focus on the race. There is hard work to do and we need to take it one step at a time. Now let's see what will happen tomorrow. Thank you all!".
Kimi added: “The first and second positions are an excellent result for the team. We expected this circuit to be better for us for several reasons, but you can never take anything for granted. Today I felt I was fast, but I made a rather stupid mistake at the chicane: I went up the curb with my left wheels while braking, skidding and losing time. I'm a bit disappointed, because I had the chance to be on pole, but I'm happy that I managed to finish second. So far we have had three very close teams, so tomorrow everything will depend on what happens in the first ten laps; It won't be easy for anyone. It is not possible to make plans for the first two corners. Those who start better than others have more chances. There is still a long way to go to repeat today's result."
