F1 | Brawn on the Vettel-Leclerc incident: "It's never good when teammates eliminate themselves"

In his post-Brazilian Grand Prix analysis Ross Brawn also discussed the fratricidal contact involving the Ferraris Sebastian Vettel need Charles Leclerc. An accident that forced both Reds to retire.

The Cavallino team, according to the current sporting director of the Circus, must not allow episodes like these to happen in the future, especially if Maranello fights for the World Championship.

Furthermore, for Brawn one of the two drivers would have done well to take responsibility for what happened, thus admitting the mistake made, as happened to Hamilton who apologized to Albon. In fact, in the final stages of the Interlagos GP, the Englishman touched the Thai's Red Bull, damaging the race.

"It's never nice when teammates eliminate each other from a race, especially if there isn't a particularly important result at stake, as in this case third place in Brazil was the best they could aspire to – underlined Brawn -. After the tensions after the summer break, everything seemed to have calmed down in the Ferrari dressing room. But now Mattia Binotto faces the tough task of getting things back on track and indeed he said just that in his post-match interviews. He didn't have to say anything other than to put the riders in front  to their responsibilities, which in Maranello means putting the interests of the team before those of the individual, something that didn't happen in the race".

The former Ferrari technical director, completing his analysis, then added: “I don't want to venture into an opinion on who was most at fault in the collision but, in the cold, it would have been nice if one of them had followed Hamilton's example by immediately admitting their faults as the champion did in his clash with Albon .  If Ferrari truly wants to end Mercedes' dominance, it must not only provide its drivers with a more competitive car next year, but it must also ensure that incidents like this do not happen again. Formula 1 is a team sport, especially in Maranello".
