F1 | Bottas: “A very important victory for me”

Closes beautifully Valtteri Bottas, gaining pole position and victory in the season Abu Dhabi, in the final match of World F1 2017. The Finnish driver thus concludes his first year at Mercedes pocketing three victories, and looking to next year with optimism. Here are his words at the press conference.

“It's a very important victory for me, after a difficult start in the second part of the season; we worked hard trying to solve all the problems and improve everything. This weekend however, pole and victory: I couldn't be happier. Congratulations again to Lewis for the world title and to Sebastian for second place in the Championship. This year I finish in third place, let's hope that the next one will be better."

“I was fully in control of the race and it was a great feeling. I had a small block when I found myself in front of some lapped cars, but otherwise there were no problems. In the last five laps I started to go a little faster, managing to build up an advantage. The car was fine. I thank the team for this season in which I really enjoyed myself!”.

“It's crazy to think that last year I was here with Williams and now I find myself winning a race with Mercedes. But that's life. It was an incredible season for me: I learned a lot with this team and with Lewis. Every race I gained something, especially from the more treacherous ones. Based on a victory at the last GP I can't say I know how to win a world title, but this weekend certainly gives me the energy and confidence needed for the future. I'm really looking forward to next year and seeing what happens. I will work hard over the winter and do everything I can to give my best."
