The Finn: "My goal was to get to the end"
The Finn made his first rally appearance with a satisfying fifth place in the Arctic Lapland in Finland.
During the winter break, Valtteri Bottas wanted to try his hand at a new four-wheeled experience. On board one Ford Fiesta prepared by M-Sport, with the co-driver and world champion, Timo Rautiainen, the Finn gave a good performance by finishing the first day in fifth position, then improving with a victory the following day. He finished the event in fifth place, two minutes behind the winner, Emil Lindholm.
“Overall, it was a very good experience - commented Bottas - my goal was to get to the finish line and we did it. I learned a lot, and the pace kept increasing. Everything went as expected”.
Even co-driver Rautiainen admitted that he was surprised by the talent shown by Bottas:
“This flying Finn, it really is in his blood, pure speed on his first ever rally!”.
As reported by MTV, the Mercedes driver, intends to participate in the next event:
“I learned a lot with Timo. I am really happy with our collaboration and this project. Next year we will race here again”.
