F1 | Bottas: “Fantastic car and excellent strategy”

Doublet Mercedes and second place for Valtteri Bottas in the Spanish GP, with the Finn managing to get on the podium for the third time since the start of the season. Here are his statements at the end of the day.

“Obviously today I was aiming for victory, but as a team it was really a very solid race, we had a fantastic car and the team was really very reactive with the strategy. We were perfect this weekend: we must continue like this and victories will surely come from me too." 

“After the first stint I was in difficulty, stuck behind Sebastian. We knew the car had great pace and I think we were faster than Ferrari, but on this track it's really difficult to overtake. However, when Seb decided to stop again under the VSC regime, while we remained outside, we made the right choice. Before the race we thought that a single stop would be almost impossible, but when we realized that the tires were holding up better than expected we decided to change our plans." 

“Today we gained important points for the team; the next race in Monaco could be difficult for us. I think Red Bull will be very strong there, while Ferrari took pole last year. We must continue to work hard and believe in our ability to improve things."
