F1 | Bottas: “At Suzuka I used Hamilton's old chassis”

Valtteri Bottas, winner of the Japanese Grand Prix, revealed that for the Japanese race, he used the monocoque that was previously installed on Lewis Hamilton's W10. The Finn proved to be faster than his teammate throughout the weekend and, mathematically, he can still win the world championship. The gap from the Englishman in the world rankings is 73 points with still four races remaining in the championship.

“I had a new chassis available for this weekend, or rather, it's the one used by Lewis this season. From the first moment, the car seemed more competitive than ever”, the 30-year-old told C More.

When asked if it was normal to receive Hamilton's old chassis, Bottas replied: “Lewis got a new one, I got the old one. The team sometimes swaps them but at least it doesn't get worse."

Hamilton could already become world champion for the sixth time in his career in the next Grand Prix, in Mexico, but the Englishman is not so optimistic:

“I think Mexico is our worst circuit of the year. I think it will be very difficult to beat the Ferraris with those long straights. We will have to fight for a few more races."
