2021 calendar, still several ideas on the table for replacing Japan
F1 | Baku denies interest in a second race in 2021

Despite the rumors circulating in the last few hours, Baku has categorically denied a negotiation with Liberty Media for a second race in Azerbaijan between October and November.

Through a statement published on automotorsport.az, the GP's management has excluded the Azerbaijani track from the list of circuits capable of taking the slot vacated by Suzuka, specifying how the management's attention is totally dedicated to the event which will take place in 2022.

Austin, which would host a "double-header" with the second race which would take the name of "Texas GP", Qatar with the Losail International Circuit and Bahrain, remain in the running to replace Japan. The latter event would take place on the Outer Circuit and not on the “classic” Sakhir layout.

“The information circulating about our interest in a second race in the autumn does not correspond to reality”, said a spokesperson for the demonstration taking place in Azerbaijan. “No such request exists and has not been made to Liberty Media. This is just nonsense."
