F1 | Audetto on the Arrivabene-Binotto rotation: "It's the harsh law of Formula One, Ferrari was born to win"

"I'm sorry for Maurizio. I don't know Binotto well enough, but I know he's a good engineer. Ferrari lacks a president like Montezemolo," the former Super Aguri CEO told Autosprint

F1 | Audetto on the Arrivabene-Binotto rotation: "It's the harsh law of Formula One, Ferrari was born to win"

In an interview given to the weekly Autosprint, Daniele Audetto spoke about the change at the top of Ferrari's Sports Management which led to the farewell - after four seasons - of Maurizio Arrivabene with the consequent promotion of Mattia Binotto as team principal.

"If you don't win it's difficult to stay in a leadership position – underlined Audetto, former CEO of the Super Aguri team -. In a team like Ferrari, which was born to win, when you don't succeed, the manager automatically changes. It is the harsh law of Formula One, which in Ferrari applies in an even more special and exclusive way".

He then added: "I feel sorry for Maurizio because he is a friend, he paid for not having a purely racing pedigree. On the other hand it is a great achievement to have remained in that position for all this time".

Audetto, speaking of Binotto, said: “I don't know him well enough, but I know he's a good engineer. In Ferrari it is very, very, difficult to be the team principal or even the sporting director. I hope he has personality, charisma and experience to deal with complex things".

Audetto also believes that, in this precise period, the role of team principal in Ferrari is difficult without a figure like former president Montezemolo: “Arrivabene made a good impression compared to the early days of Jean Todt. Jean was always supported, defended by a great man like di Montezemolo. He protected his men, including Schumacher, who did not win the title for the first four years".
