F1 | Aston Martin, Vettel in Q3: “I think I have the necessary experience to get by”
“It will be a race focused on tire management,” said Seb
Good qualifying for Sebastian Vettel, on pace all weekend and ninth at the end of qualifying in Baku. The four-time world champion therefore placed his Aston Martin on the fifth row, on a track that last year saw him on the podium in second place behind Sergio Perez. The German, a little disappointed at not having been able to complete the last attempt, is more determined than ever and wants to score more points after those obtained in Monaco.
“I'm quite happy with ninth position – admits Seb. With another half a tenth I could have passed Yuki, but I think it was a good session for us. In Q2 I got stuck in turn 15: I wasn't sure I could take the corner, then I thought I could, and in the end I decided to go straight so as not to damage the wing. It worked and I was able to wall wise. It will be a race focused entirely on tire management, and it won't be easy: it will be much hotter than qualifying but I'm looking forward to it, also because I've been here for a while and I think I have the necessary experience to be able to get by" .
