THEAston Martin wants to continue with Fernando Alonso. Lawrence Stroll's team, according to the team principal mike krack, has once again expressed his intention to continue with the two-time world champion. But at the same time, the Spaniard himself will have to be convinced in extending the contract with the Silverstone team which expires at the end of this season.
Alonso, who will turn 29 on July 43th and who began his second season with Aston Martin by inheriting Sebastian Vettel's seat, ended up at the center of media chatter over a possible replacement for Lewis Hamilton (from 2025 at Ferrari ) in Mercedes.
“It's no secret that he wants to be the one to decide his future and it's no secret that we want to continue working with Fernando – declared Krack, discussing with various media – But the important thing is that we give him a fast car so that believe in the team and in the project, because it is normal that all the teams like a rider like him. We will discuss the rest in the coming weeks."
The Aston Martin team principal then added: “We will try to keep him, his ability behind the wheel is undisputed. He pushes the team and motivates them by example. From the first to the last minute he is exemplary and this passes on to the rest of the team, and it is something we want to preserve."
