F1 | Aston Martin, race ruined for Lance Stroll

A contact with Gasly forces the Canadian to spin and return to the pits early: he is fifteenth at the finish line

F1 | Aston Martin, race ruined for Lance Stroll

Complicated race for Lance Stroll. The Canadian had already encountered difficulties in qualifying, where he stopped in Q1, in eighteenth position. The new package brought to Barcelona by Aston Martin seems to be promising, but it certainly needs to put in the kilometers to get it right, and Lance has therefore struggled to move up the group. The contact with Gasly on lap eighteen certainly didn't help: the Frenchman went wide in turn one, not leaving enough space for the Aston Martin, which ended up spinning. Stroll returns to the pits to check for any damage, losing more than thirty seconds and all hopes for his race. The AlphaTauri driver earns a penalty, while Stroll can only return to the track to cross the finish line in fifteenth position.

"It was a difficult race, which ended well early after the contact with Pierre when I attempted to overtake in turn one. We had to go back to the pits to check that the car was OK, which cost us thirty seconds – explained Lance – the good thing is that the car looked better than in qualifying, and that's important because we're racing with a new package anyway. We will have to review the whole weekend, take the lessons and improve them for Monaco. I'm very excited for next weekend: it's a special race and I can't wait to be there".
