F1 | Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso: “We are ready to give our best”

It seems like an emeritus has passed since the last GP, that of Baku, and certainly Fernando Alonso he was more eager than others to get back on track. The Asturian driver has been chasing victory number 33 since the start of the season, and Monaco it's one of those tracks that could offer surprises. Qualifying will certainly be half the battle, and Alonso immediately went on the attack: in the first free practice session the Asturian set the second best time, behind Ferrari di Carlos Sainz. In the afternoon Red Bull they found the main road again, with Max Verstappen back at the top of the standings, while the two reds maintained the rest of the podium. Alonso is only fourth, but his hopes of staying in front have not faded yet.

“We completed enough laps, getting a good understanding of the car on this track. It was essential to find the rhythm immediately, to avoid any problems. In both sessions the car felt easy to drive, which is useful at this circuit – explained Alonso – there will be a lot of ups and downs for everyone this year, so we have to be ready to give our all every weekend. Some weekends we will be faster than our rivals, others things will be different, but I can't wait to get on track for qualifying."
