F1 | Another disaster for Haas in Abu Dhabi qualifying
Magnussen and Grosjean will start from fourteenth and fifteenth position respectively
Another disaster for Haas, which ranked in fifteenth and sixteenth position in Abu Dhabi with Magnussen and Grosjean during qualifying. Both will start one place later due to the penalty given to Bottas, but the US team's performances continue to disappoint. During free practice especially the Frenchman did very well, also thanks to the new package of updates (punctually destroyed by the Mercedes Finn), and the #8 of Haas is already thinking about next year, evidently he too can't wait let this disastrous season for the American team end.
“As always we didn't know what to expect – Magnussen said. Yesterday Romain had a good pace with his car, but then he had to go back to the old configuration, and at the end of the games today we both dropped, I was fifteenth and he was sixteenth. It's not good, but I hope I can do something tomorrow. We'll have some fun and try to enjoy the last race of the season, try to get a point or two."
“After three free practice sessions, in which we were in sixth, seventh and eleventh place, I thought we were ready for qualifying – Grosjean admitted. We thought we could be there between tenth and eleventh place, but the car was very different. We didn't have the same package as yesterday, and that didn't help us: it's the story of our season. You prepare everything for qualifying and then the car behaves in another way. I'm disappointed, but the boys couldn't have done anything else. The best job possible has been done, I can't wait for next year."
