F1 | Alpine, Oscar Piastri promoted to third driver for the 2022 season

Through a press release published in the early hours of the morning, Alpine confirmed the promotion of Oscar Piastri as the team's third driver for the 2022 season. Thanks to the splendid performances shown this year in Formula 2, the young French driver has earned a good opportunities for next year, while waiting to aim for an official seat for 2023. Piastri, in addition to working closely with Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso on race weekends, will have the opportunity to carry out a test program that it will allow him to become more familiar with Formula 1 and the systems within the team.

“I am thrilled to join the Alpine team as a reserve driver,” said the transalpine. “I look forward to being involved within the team and building on the possible successes of next season. Next year's role is just a first step towards my main goal of obtaining an official position in 2023. I will work closely with the team on the weekends and we will develop a testing program that will help me grow and learn directly on the competition field."
