F1 | Alpine, Ocon out in Q2: “I had the pace to get into the top ten”

Esteban Ocon is certainly disappointed with the qualifying result in Türkiye. The Frenchman had to settle for twelfth position, and therefore the sixth row on the starting grid tomorrow. A performance not up to Alpine's potential, contrary to what Alonso showed, in Q3 and even sixth (then fifth due to the penalty to Hamilton, ed.). Attacking race tomorrow for the Frenchman, who will make up for it both after this bad day and for the points missed in Sochi.

“It's disappointing not to be in the top ten, because we probably had the pace to be there – Ocon explained. Unfortunately I had to abort my last attempt due to traffic and was unable to complete the lap. It would have been good maybe to get to the top ten, but that's how it went. We are currently struggling with some inaccuracies in the car, we are working hard to resolve them. We continue to push as teams to get the maximum, our focus now is on tomorrow's race with the aim of getting back to scoring points."
