F1 | Alpine, Fernando Alonso: “I couldn't have done more”

Unlucky qualifying for Fernando Alonso, who shut down his engines at the end of Q2. The Spaniard, who showed some interesting times in the dry yesterday, was unable to repeat himself today too, with fluctuating track conditions. The Spaniard had already struggled to qualify in Q1, which he finished with the fifteenth fastest time. In Q2 Fernando continues to try, but can do nothing among the wet curves of Spa: Alonso is fourteenth, and will share the seventh row with Valtteri Bottas, eighth at the end of Q3, but penalized by five positions from the Hungarian Grand Prix.

"I wasn't able to find grip today with the changing conditions, and our race won't be easy from our position – said Fernando – I found myself in fourteenth position in Q1 and Q2 and I don't think I could have done any more. If the conditions are the same tomorrow, then anything can happen, for sure, and we'll see what happens. I'm glad Lando is okay after the accident".
