F1 | Alpine, Fernando Alonso is ninth: "We'll fight for it at the start"

Despite the good performances shown by the French team, Fernando Alonso was unable to go beyond ninth position. The Asturian had shown himself competitive in the third free practice session, where he set the fifth best time, but was unable to repeat himself in qualifying. Fernando will start the Zandvoort Grand Prix from the fifth row; next to him is Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren.

"All in all it was a good day for us as both cars made it to Q3. We managed to save a set of tires in Q1, but our bold move didn't pay off due to the red flag in Q2, where the others made up ground – explained the two-time world champion – iIn Q3, then, there was a group of cars very close together. We will try to make some overtaking at the start and see what our situation will be after the first laps. Once the first phase is over, I think it will be difficult to overtake. It will be a challenge for everyone, but we can't wait".
