Complicated qualifying for Alpine, which after a series of positive results on Saturday saw both cars out of Q3. Fernando Alonso could only set the thirteenth fastest time, while Esteban Ocon was only half a tenth slower. The two drivers of the French team will occupy the seventh row on the grid for the Sprint Qualifying, where both will try to recover positions for Sunday's race.
"I'm a little disappointed with our result in qualifying, because I think we could have done more – admitted the Frenchman – we were very close to our rivals, and so were Fernando and I, there is less than half a tenth between us, which shows how hard we are pushing the car. In the last few races we have always managed to get into Q3, it's a shame to end this positive streak. In any case, the format of the weekend is different from usual and there are still the Sprint Qualifying and the race to make up for. We have to make up positions, but I want to give my all in the race, make some overtakings and put ourselves in a better position for Sunday's race".
