F1 | AlphaTauri, Yuki Tsunoda: “Too bad about the track limits”

Bitter sweet qualifying for Yuki Tsunoda: his is the only AlphaTauri in the top ten, but the epilogue of Q3 could have been different. The Faenza team managed to improve compared to Friday, where doubts still lingered regarding the car's set-up; between the two, however, the driver who was more comfortable with the car was Tsunoda himself, who managed to pass the cut for Q3 on the yellow compound, the same one he will use for the start - Gasly was blocked by traffic and remained stationary in twelfth position. In the final heat Yuki scored an excellent first attempt of 1.23.011s, a time which was subsequently canceled for having exceeded the track limits in turn 16. With that time the Japanese would have finished his qualifying in sixth position, ahead of Valtteri Bottas' Mercedes . Instead, Yuki is only eighth, and will start from the fourth row in Charles Leclerc's Ferrari.

"It's been a good weekend so far, but obviously I'm a bit frustrated with qualifying, it's a shame about the track limits in Q3, because I think that was a good lap, and on top of that without any skisa – explained the Japanese – I found my confidence again during this weekend and the performance on the track proves it, I have never felt so confident in the car since the first race in Bahrain, it's very positive. I am very satisfied with my time in Q2 and will start on the medium compound, a great advantage. It's definitely a nice way to end the season, with a great qualifying, just one more good result left tomorrow, which is what really matters".
