F1 | AlphaTauri, Tsunoda and de Vries finish the Melbourne qualifying in Q2

Small improvement forAlpha Tauri, which in Australia has not yet managed to reach Q3, but at least tsunoda e de Vries tomorrow they will start from twelfth and fifteenth position on the grid. The updates brought to Melbourne seem to have borne fruit, even if the AT04 is still far from the objectives set by the team. However, the points zone seems to be fully within reach, especially for the Japanese driver. Overcoming will not be easy at all, but the comeback is more than possible.

“It was a good qualifying, we raised our pace and maximized our performance – Tsunoda admitted. Q1 went well and we finished in fifteenth position, but we managed to take a further step forward with each attempt. For Q2 we had planned to do two push laps, but unfortunately the checks at the weighbridge prevented me from completing the second lap. Therefore, considering that I only did one flying lap, I am satisfied with the result and the improvement in my team's performance. I can't wait to race tomorrow: we haven't done long run tests, but we will aim to get the most out of the car to be able to score points."

“It was a positive session and it's good to get into Q2, especially with the new updates we brought this weekend – de Vries said. The conditions were variable and quite complicated, in particular for the tire warm-up. In the last run of Q2 we didn't adapt enough to what needed to be done. In practice, the tires continued to improve, but as the track evolved there was a small dip where the tires needed to be optimized for the final lap. I'm a little disappointed because we didn't get to do it, but overall it was a positive session. We haven't had the chance to try the long runs, but I'm looking forward to racing tomorrow and hopefully we can score points."
