F1 | AlphaTauri protagonist at the Imola Autodrome for a filming day

After a long wait, yesterday we finally got back on track! Scenario: the Imola Autodrome, not far from our factory in Faenza, where we had the second Filming Day of this strange 1 Formula 2020 season.

Training in the gym, the simulator, the karts: all useful, but for a Formula 1 driver nothing can compare to the sensations that only a real F1 car can give. Thus, three and a half months after the last winter test in Barcelona, Daniil Kvyat e Pierre Gasly are back behind the wheel, just over a week before the start of the GP weekend that will open the World Championship, scheduled for 5 July at the Red Bull Ring, in Austria.

Under a scorching sun, our drivers started the day taking turns driving the STR13. Using a single-seater from two seasons ago, we were able to give them the opportunity to run without particular mileage limits: very important training, after such a long forced stop. Pierre kicked off the day, then handed over the wheel to Daniil who stopped just before one, also treating himself to a couple of donuts before taking the car back to the pits.

After the lunch break, during which we also took the opportunity to wish our Team Manager, Graham Watson, a happy birthday, the drivers and engineers got back to work to get to the heart of the actual filming day (limited instead to 100 km), with the great protagonist of the day: the AT01.

It was an opportunity to get back to feeling with our new car, the first of the new AlphaTauri era, in view of the first GP of the season, which will open with a triptych of three consecutive races: 5 and 12 July in Austria and 19 in Hungary. Both Pierre and Daniil love Imola, a circuit with a great history in Formula 1: after an edition of the Italian GP in 1980, Imola then hosted 2006 editions of the San Marino GP until 26.
