F1 | AlphaTauri, Pierre Gasly: ​​“Ready to seize any opportunity”

Pierre Gasly managed to reward, in a small way, the efforts of the entire Faenza team, who worked hard to repair the car damaged by a fire yesterday, during the second free practice session. Already in the last free practice session the Frenchman set the best fourth time in the standings, but then had to give way in the qualifying session, despite managing to get into Q3. Gasly will therefore start from ninth position, on the fourth row, next to Daniel Ricciardo, who failed to set any time in Q3 after going off track in Q2, where he damaged the rear wing. Pierre, at the start, will wear the soft tyre.

"The team did an amazing job getting the car ready in time for the final practice session. They barely slept last night, because they had to rebuild the chassis, and everything went well, so a big thank you to them for their efforts – began Pierre Gasly – we were very competitive in FP3, so I'm disappointed with the result in qualifying because we were fast all weekend. We realized that without wind the car works perfectly, but as soon as the wind picks up everything becomes more difficult, as in Q2 and Q3. I'm still happy with ninth position, but I think we could have been ahead. It's a new track, the last time we raced on a new circuit was at Mugello, and everything happened, so it will be essential to seize any opportunity, because I think there will be some, it will be exciting!”.

Daniil Kvyat instead stopped in thirteenth position, ending his qualifying early at the end of Q2. The Russian will start from the seventh row next to an incredible George Russell.

"It was a difficult qualifying and I think we didn't have enough confidence to push harder, the car was unstable and sensitive to the wind. Every time I tried to push I went off line, so I couldn't do more. I haven't driven in such difficult conditions for a long time, I think it will be an interesting and complicated race, there will be opportunities to get back into the points".
