F1 | AlphaTauri, NU89: “Top level competition, I'm happy”
Luca Salvadori: "Someone hit me in turn 1, but it was a good race"
The second Virtual GP, held on the Melbourne circuit, saw Charles Leclerc take home the victory ahead of Lundgaard and Russell. The Ferrari driver was in front from start to finish, starting from pole position after the Renault academy driver's penalty in qualifying. All in all a good performance for the AlphaTauri duo: Luca Salvadori and Nunzio Todisco (NU89) finished in twelfth and thirteenth position respectively, despite the accidents in which they were involved during the first lap.
“It was a good race, despite the first corner – declared Luca Salvadori. This time I was very careful to avoid possible contact, but someone hit me from behind and sent me into a spin. I started last again, but with a good pace and a good strategy I recovered some positions. It was a shame, because with the pace we had we could have finished in the top eight. Let's hope there can be another opportunity to do well."
“It was a good race – NU89 said. I'm happy, because the competition was of the highest level. In qualifying I wasn't able to go below 1:21, but in the race we had a good pace and we could both be in the points, but we were a bit unlucky. On the first lap I ended up spinning and had to fight a bit at the back. With Heimgartner we were wheel to wheel for a lot of laps, until the end, but I managed to hold my position."
