F1 | AlphaTauri, Gasly's joy: "I gave everything, the podium was too important"

Pierre Gasly is certainly one of the promoted players in the crazy race in Baku. The Frenchman managed to achieve a great podium with AlphaTauri, the second with the Faenza team after the victory achieved last year in Monza, thus ending on a high note a weekend where he stood out from the very beginning. A performance, today's, which does nothing but certify the absolute maturation of a driver who, having returned "home", managed to express himself at high levels.

"It's amazing, I don't know what to say – admitted Gasly at the end of the Baku GP – It was a crazy, super intense race, lap after lap until the end. The guys had an incredible weekend. We proved we were there in every session. Qualifying was exceptional, we didn't know we could maintain that position but in the end we fought for the podium and got there. I'm so happy to have achieved it".

Then speaking about the battle that ignited the last lap, with the Frenchman managing to overtake Charles Leclerc who thus had to settle for fourth place, Gasly added: “I had to get my elbows out, it was very difficult for me. From the first laps I had problems with the engine, we lost a lot of speed on the straight and Seb (Vettel, ed.) he managed to overtake us halfway through the race, we knew it would be difficult. But it's really exciting. I gave everything because the podium was too important. These are beautiful points for us".
