The Russian: "It was quite cold!", Pierre: "A rather disappointing qualifying"

F1 | AlphaTauri, Gasly and Kvyat out in Q2 at the Nurburgring

It wasn't an exciting day for AlphaTauri, who at the Nurburgring placed Gasly and Kvyat in twelfth and thirteenth position respectively in qualifying for the Eifel Grand Prix. The two drivers were unable to do better, evidently the AT01 is having some adaptation problems on the German track, but the objective tomorrow will be to gain important points for the constructors' championship.

“It's disappointing to qualify in twelfth position, but we knew it would be difficult and after FP3 I didn't have too much confidence – Gasly said. We tried to make some small changes and something improved in qualifying, but not enough to compete with our rivals, who were faster today. We need to review some things, but we can at least choose the tires freely for tomorrow, so I'm confident ahead of the race. We will try to do something different on a strategic level, and we hope that it will benefit us."

“It was quite cold out there – Kvyat admitted. We had to analyze the data very quickly after this morning's free practice to understand some set ups to adopt in these conditions. The challenge is nice, fun, unfortunately today our pace wasn't good, but having said that I'm happy with my lap because today the gap with Q3 was very wide, and I couldn't do more. As for the race, there will always be a chance to finish in the points, because we usually go better on Sundays, so hopefully we can take some chances here at the Nurburgring."
