F1 | AlphaTauri, de Vries gets through to Q2 on Saturday in Miami

F1 GP Miami AlphaTauri – Nyck de Vries managed to secure passage to Q2 in the qualifying session valid for the Miami Grand Prix, fifth round of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship. Despite the difficulties that emerged in terms of set-up and confidence with the track, the Dutchman managed to extract the maximum potential of the AT03, guaranteeing 15th place. Things went worse instead Yuki tsunoda, given that the Japanese - never really competitive during this weekend in Florida - will have to start from the 17th position.

“Of course we always want more, but if we look at how the first two free practice sessions went, we can be satisfied with the performance improvement we have achieved,” said the Dutchman. “We started off on the wrong foot, but the progress we made overnight allowed us to reach Q2 for the first time, which is a great result for us. Here we lack experience on long runs and overtaking is complicated, but we have a long race ahead of us and perhaps there will be opportunities that we can exploit. There is little grip, especially off the ideal line, but tomorrow is a new day and the race is upon us!”.

Here are Tsunoda's impressions: “It's definitely not the result we wanted. From the early stages we didn't have the right pace and we struggled a lot. The midfield is compact, as it has been in the last few races, but tomorrow is a new day and we will see how it goes. We changed the set-up a lot, but it didn't seem to work well, but we have to move forward and stay focused. The balance itself was good, but the grip was poor. We have to accept that it is difficult and that this was not my best qualifying, but tonight we will analyze all the data to try to find a little more performance for tomorrow."
