F1 | Alonso celebrates 300 GPs in the Circus: "I am one of the best drivers to have raced in Formula 1"

The milestone of 300 Grands Prix in Formula 1 is an opportunity for Fernando Alonso to take stock of his long career in the Circus. With 32 GP wins and 97 podiums under his belt, the Spaniard is undoubtedly one of the most appreciated drivers of the new millennium: "I am one of the best drivers to have raced in Formula 1" – declared Alonso himself. “I'm probably not the fastest driver in qualifying, in the race, or in wet conditions, but I'm a 9.5 guy in all areas and I'm trying to benefit from that.”.

The 36-year-old Asturian reached the pinnacle of his career in the 2005 and 2006 seasons, when he won his first and only world championship titles with Renault. Then many other missed opportunities: in McLaren in 2007 and in Ferrari in 2010 and 2012. World Championships lost at the last minute, which however do not disturb Nando's thoughts: “There were some missed opportunities. I could have won four or five championships, but at the same time I feel extremely privileged to have raced in Formula 1 for eighteen years" - has explained. “I have many good memories. There have been many ups and downs, but winning my two World Cups was definitely the high point.".
