Despite the excellent pace shown in free practice, in fact, the Biscione standard-bearers were unable to exploit the potential of the C38, an aspect which significantly penalized the points collection in Baku. The objective now will be to work on what went wrong, so as to show up in Barcelona with a technical package capable of challenging McLaren for the fourth place on the grid.

“Considering the result obtained in qualifying, I would say that we are more disappointed than happy with the race,” declared Frederic Vasseur at the end of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. “At a certain point we found ourselves in the position of having to limit the damage, but to be honest we could have aspired to something more”.

“The real bad news came in the morning with Kimi's front wing,” he added, analyzing the penalty imposed on the Finn yesterday morning. “There was a minor error on the deflection, but the consequence was that we had to change the specification, which forced us to start from the pit.”

“Surprisingly there was no safety car and this led to us losing time in traffic with both cars. Both Kimi and Antonio did a good job, but unfortunately our race was already compromised." he concluded.
