F1 | Alfa Romeo Sauber, Leclerc: “The accident? A small mistake, but I didn't waste any time. We are competitive”

In view of the Singapore GP, theAlfa Romeo Sauber is a candidate for a points finish: the Italian-Swiss team at Marina Bay has settled in mid-table positions, despite the accident that Charles Leclerc got into in the first free practice session. In the evening, however, the Monegasque was able to take to the track regularly.

"Has it been a good day. We tested all the different tires for the weekend, which is a positive start. It is a complicated circuit, with different types of corners and high temperatures: all this makes the track a challenge. We learned a lot of things, the car performed well. We are reasonably competitive, we need some work to advance in this very close middle of the table. I can't wait to be fighting tomorrow.".

FP1: 9th, 1:42.035 (+2.324) – 24 laps
FP2: 14th, 1:41.062 (+2.363) – 37 laps
“It was an interesting day for me. I drove the Marina Bay circuit for the first time, which was exciting. The track lives up to its reputation and is a good challenge, especially in terms of tire management. FP1 went well. I made a small mistake at the end of the session and hit the wall, but luckily we had already completed the program so we didn't waste any time. The team did a great job repairing the car in time for FP2. The second session took place at night, a more representative condition in view of what we will encounter during qualifying and the race. We are competitive and tomorrow we will work hard to fight for a good starting position. I can't wait to get back in the car”.
