F1 | Alfa Romeo Sauber, Giovinazzi: “The team did an excellent job, there is great motivation ahead of next year”

Among the new features on the starting grid next season is (finally!) the full-time return of an Italian driver. We are talking about Antonio Giovinazzi, who thus brings back the tricolor after an eight-year fast, promoted to starter in Alfa Romeo Sauber where he will team up with Kimi Raikkonen.

The Hinwil team therefore, after Charles Leclerc, who joined Ferrari, will rely on another young man with great hopes. Giovinazzi, however, prefers not to make comparisons with the Monegasque's path, thinking only of the work that awaits him on the track: "To be honest I didn't talk much with him about this jump. I want to think only of myself and then we'll see, without referring to what Charles has done this year. I hope that the car is faster than in the first race last year, so that we can start pushing already in Melbourne. It won't be easy for me, because I will have a world champion next to me".

Speaking about the progress shown by the C37 throughout 2018, Giovinazzi added: “From fighting for the last places in Melbourne we finished eighth in the constructors' championship. The team did a fantastic job, as did Charles and Marcus. There is great motivation among the mechanics and engineers ahead of the new season. We will try to improve the final result. The goal is to do better than others, but it won't be easy".
