F1 | Alfa Romeo, Raikkonen: “Disappointed by the results, we work to be higher”

Kimi Raikkonen admits that 2020 was not the season he expected. The Alfa Romeo driver finished with just four points in the standings, the historic low in almost twenty years of the top category, despite his performances proving to be as good as ever.

The Finnish veteran explained that since the tests last February the team had realized that it was not at the desired level and that despite the good work done on the track the situation remained frustrating, due to the lack of competitiveness due to several factors, including – we say this – the lack of cavalry of the Ferrari power unit.

Raikkonen expects a very different 2021, admitting that the team is focused on the objective of getting back on top already in the upcoming season.

“I'm disappointed with our results, but I think we did a decent job. Obviously we weren't where we wanted to be. Our expectations were quite high, but since the winter tests we understood that we were further behind than we expected, that we just had to work and that the situation was what it was - Kimi's words as reported by the GPFans.com portal - The postponed start of the season had nothing to do with it, the situation was clear from the tests. For many different reasons we weren't as fast as we thought. It was frustrating, but now we're starting from scratch again and we're working hard to put ourselves in a better position. We'll make it".
