F1 | Alfa Romeo Racing, doubled budget ahead of the 2019 season

The change of name to 'Alfa Romeo Racing' could give Sauber a wonderful addition in terms of the budget that can be used for the development of the 2019 car. According to what was reported by BudgetBookGP, in fact, the Swiss Scuderia would have gone from 50 million last season to around 100 million this year, reaching a total nest egg of around 250 million.

We are talking about a significant budget that would allow the Italian-Swiss team to compete with Renault for fourth place in the constructors' championship. Over the last two seasons, we remember, the relationship between FCA and Sauber has gradually tightened, especially after the synergy launched with Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, the latter for the supply of power units.

Here are the words of Frederic Vasseur: “It was a long process, done step by step. We signed a good agreement with Ferrari regarding the supply of power units and then Alfa Romeo joined our team, making us more attractive from a sponsors' point of view."

On the budget he added: “We can't compete with the top three teams. Our race will be in the second group and we believe we have the right credentials to stay at the top."
