F1 | Alfa Romeo, Kubica: “Positive morning”

Alfa Romeo Racing closed the first day of the second week of winter testing at Montmeló in the lead. The best performance was achieved by Robert Kubica in 1'16"942, using the softest compound in the Pirelli range. The Pole completed 53 laps in total.

In the afternoon Kubica handed over the wheel of the C39 to Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn completed 51 laps, the rapid of which was achieved in 1'19"515 with C3 rubber.

"It was a good morning in the car. Times don't matter: P1 or P20, what really matters is finishing the day having completed the test program and we did that. I felt the car better than last week, we have already made some changes and I felt the improvement. We have a lot of data to look at to fully understand the effect and another two days to get a better confidence level of the car. We know what we have to do”, said Kubica.

"It was a challenging session. We mainly focused on long runs and tried different setup options, with the team having to learn the best way to prepare the car. Pthat is, we are quite happy with our long run pace, although we know there is still a lot of work ahead of us before Melbourne,” Raikkonen said.

Tomorrow Alfa Romeo Racing will be on track with only Antonio Giovinazzi.
