Callum Ilott will take to the track in the first free practice session valid for the Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship scheduled for the last weekend of June.

In a note published on its official website, Alfa Romeo confirmed the switch with Antonio Giovinazzi, with the Italian giving up the C41 for the first session on Friday morning. An important opportunity that the Englishman will have to make the most of to continue the adaptation work begun in Portugal.

As for the Styrian Grand Prix scheduled for the weekend, however, it will be up to Robert Kubica to take the wheel of the C41 in FP1 on Friday. The Pole will get into the car in place of Kimi Raikkonen.

“The second PL1 of my season will be a good opportunity to help the team and continue the good work we did together in Portugal,” said the Ferrari Driver Academy driver. “Already knowing the car and the team will definitely help me, plus having the data from the first week at the Red Bull Ring will give us a solid base to start from. I look forward to making the most of this opportunity.”

Here are the words of Robert Kubica: “I can't wait to get back in the car next week. The team has made some big steps forward, especially lately, and you can feel the confidence throughout the team. I know how important it is to maintain this momentum and I am ready to do my part to ensure that the two weekends in Austria are as profitable as possible."
