F1 | Alfa Romeo, Giovinazzi: “Busy day”

Twelfth time for Antonio Giovinazzi on the fifth day of pre-season testing on the Montmeló track. The Alfa Romeo Racing driver achieved his best performance in 1'19"670, using C3 compound rubber and completing 92 laps in total.

The Apulian's work on the track was slowed down by the accident which saw him crash into the barriers, thus forcing him to return to the pits to replace the damaged rear wing.

"It was a busy day from the start – admitted Giovinazzi -. I made a mistake on one of my first laps, when the track was damp, and that cost us some time in the morning. When we went out again in the afternoon the yellow flags ruined our qualifying simulation. At least we managed to follow our plan on the long runs: the wind was very strong and we struggled a bit, but we managed to do it. For me it was the last time in the car before Melbourne: I'm satisfied with these two weeks, we need to concentrate on our work and try to be strong in Australia from the start".

Kimi Raikkonen will be behind the wheel of the C39 tomorrow, on the sixth and final day of testing.
