F1 | Alfa Romeo, Fred Vasseur: “We cannot miss these opportunities!”

Once again Alfa Romeo Racing emerges from a Formula 1 Grand Prix without points, the third time in a row after the defeats in Sochi and Suzuka. Bad luck doesn't seem to abandon the Italian/Swiss team, in addition to the fact that certain situations could have easily been avoided, such as the blunder in the pits during Giovinazzi's pit stop, which effectively ruined his weekend. Raikkonen, on the other hand, saw his race essentially end after two corners, as he was squeezed by two cars, which in the long run caused the cooling system to break, as well as considerable damage to the bottom of his C38. There is a lot to work on, this second part of the season for Alfa Romeo Racing has been very negative so far, we need to reverse course in the last races.

“It's disappointing to leave Mexico without points, because our performances during this weekend were better than in the last few races – said Frederic Vasseur, team principal of Alfa Romeo Racing. Unfortunately Kimi suffered damage to the floor and the cooling system after the first corner: he lost performance and later in the race overheating led to his retirement. Antonio had a good strategy and an excellent pace, but he lost more than twenty seconds at the pit stop, and this put him among the lapped. We cannot miss these opportunities, we could have fought with Toro Rosso for the points. We'll do it again in seven days!
