F1 | Alfa Romeo, Bottas one step away from the points: "We did our best"

Eleventh position for Valtteri Bottas in the Singapore Grand Prix. At Marina Bay the Finn managed to recover several positions thanks also to the various retirements of his opponents, first of all his teammate Zhou Guanyu. Bottas had in fact been eliminated in Q1 during qualifying, but moved up to eleventh position, one step away from the points zone. Not a great race for him, who continues his lack of points since the Montreal race.

"Considering our starting position, I'd say we did the best we could. Obviously it's always frustrating to finish one step away from the points, but at least we kept ourselves out of trouble and stayed on track – explained Valtteri – towards the end, the soft tires were starting to give way and I wasn't able to attack Gasly, but I think we did well to put the reds on in the second stint; I don't think any other compound could have led us to this result. However, we gather many positive elements from the weekend: we had a good pace on Friday and there will be some updates in Japan; our car has shown that it works better in the dry, let's hope that the weather is on our side in Suzuka, so we can take revenge".
